My WPLN Radio Archive

Why ogg format? Why not MP3? The answer is simple. Ogg simply gives the best clarity for the buck - or in this case the bit. The streams are low quality to begin with, so I use a lower quality setting when recording (q=1 avg 60kbps). That allows me to record an hour for about 25 MB which is less than half the size of an equivalent 128k MP3.
My music collection is in MP3 format because of portability. Ogg just isn't widely enough supported in portable players to make this an option yet, but it is starting to gain some ground.
